Back

I have been quiet for a couple of days. Of course I decide to post a blog on the morning before work. I should be getting ready for work, but I would rather post a blog. I have some pictures from this weekend, and a lovely poppy that bloomed at work.
Let's start off with Saturday, very gray and some rain, but that didn't stop David and I from driving around. First we were just driving around in New Hampshire, and then found ourselves in Vermont, this would be the second time in my life that I have been to Vermont. Very pretty, and a lot of hills. Eventually we ended up in Windsor, Vermont. That is where Harpoon brews. We stopped and had a late lunch. Chicken wings (nice and hot!) and I had a really good bratwurst and sauerkraut sandwich, with their white UFO. I couldn't leave without souvenirs so I got us each a pretty glass.

Unfortunately I didn't take a whole lot of pictures, it was very gray, and yucky outside.

Oh! I finally finished the socialite dress, from Anna Maria Horner. I will need to get a picture of it. I think it came out pretty well, considering I am still a novice sewer.

I also finished my kanteen carrier. I will need to get an action shot soon.

I will finish on a pretty note, with the Oriental Poppy, called Eye Catcher.

Have a lovely Wednesday,

Day off!

I get a perfect weather day, for my day off. There should be nothing to complain about. I am working on my carrying case for my water bottle, and found a great paisley sheet at goodwill to use to make a shirt. Lately paisley has been catching my eye.
The second disc of The Tin Man came in today, and I can't wait to watch it. Zooey Deschanel is completely inspiring me to have bangs again. I grew mine out about ten years ago.
So excited I found the perfect birthday gift for my grandfather, a book, Legends, Lies & Cherished Myths of American History. He always loves talking about history and since the Christmas gift of a book about untold stories of presidents, I thought he might like another book.
I also had to pick up the Anna Marie Horner book, SEAMS TO ME. I can't wait to make the smashing smock, but I may actually attempt to make a quilt! I have been slowly working on the Socialite dress. I just don't have a specific place to really sew right now, so some projects can take a little longer.
I need to work on getting pictures of my projects up.

Strawberries and crochet

Strawberry season, is here, and I am so happy! I love going to the farmer's market, all I have to do is follow that sweet smell, and I can get some fresh local strawberries. It seems a crime right now to go to the grocery store and buy strawberries from California, when there are such fresh juicy strawberries right here in Maine. I have also been walking by a stand that has been selling concord grape vines, I am so tempted to buy. What holds me back, is I don't have a place for them, I could pull up my hops vines, but I love them. I will keep thinking about where I will put them, because fresh grapes would be amazing!
My new crochet project is using recycled cotton yarn from red heart to make something to hold my water bottle. I need to carry it around with me, when I am at work, but the way I keep dropping it, I think I may actually do some serious damage. It is a Kleen Kanteen, but when it keeps dropping onto asphalt, I have actually put a dent in it. It has been so nice, and very hot I need to be carrying around water with me, but I need to keep my hands free, to help customers, and move plants around.

First

So I have finally started a blog. I have just needed someplace else, to put down what I am doing with my projects, and what I am thinking. I live in Maine, with my boyfriend, and frog. Yup a frog, a white's tree frog to be more specific. I would love a dog, but right now my schedule, and my boyfriend's schedule doesn't allow us the chance to have a dog. I work for a garden center for seven months out of the year. I love helping people find the right plants for their home, but I still think about going more into landscaping.
I am going to have to finish this up for right now, I have to leave for work.
